Artist Statement

I’ve called myself a graffiti artist, skater, graphic designer, chef, painter, etc., but these boxes limit me from exploring what else I could be. These paths lead to one goal, as a creative I create or perform in the spotlight, proving my worth through undeniable growth. To say it how I want it to be known, I am Me, I am Demetri and I am Meech, who I am today will not be the same as tomorrow, but I will always yearn to create. My art, just like me, is bold and unlimiting, exploring ideas and subjects that I find provocative or taboo, therefore demanding the viewer's attention. I make whatever I want at that moment. Whether that’s painting a mean looking dude that gives me the creeps, or my cat and dog sharing a smoke and a beer on a sunny day. I want the viewer to have a personal experience when they look at my art. Perhaps they see a reminder of a happy memory, or even the embodiment of their deepest insecurities, as long as the viewer feels something, even just for a little, I can be happy.
